Project “RAINWATER COLLECTION AND TREATMENT NETWORK IN THE COMMON AREAS OF THE PORT, AND WATER AND WASTEWATER NETWORK IN THE EASTERN AREA OF THE PORT OF TARANTO”.

The work “Rainwater collection and treatment network in the common areas of the port, and water and wastewater network in the Eastern area of the port of Taranto”” is financed by the Regional Operational Programme (POR, Programma Operativo Regionale) Puglia 2014-2020, which has a total budget of EUR 7,120,958,992 and is carried out together with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund (ESF).

The work falls within Axis VII - Transport systems and network infrastructures of the Regional Operational Programme Puglia as part of Action 7.4 - Interventions for the competitiveness of the port and interport system.

In line with the Europe 2020 strategy for sustainable, inclusive growth and intelligence, the project falls within the macro-area of intervention dedicated to infrastructural and environmental context policies and, contributing to the achievement of thematic goal number 7 of “Promoting sustainable transport systems and eliminating bottlenecks in the main network infrastructures”, specifically pursues the investment priority 7c of “Developing and improving environmentally friendly (including low-noise) and low-carbon transport systems, including inland waterway and maritime transport, ports, multi-mode links and airport infrastructure, in order to promote sustainable regional and local mobility”.

The project has received funding of EUR 10,174,799.21 for the construction of the network for the rainwater collection and treatment network in the common areas of the port, and water and wastewater network in the Eastern area of the port of Taranto. (CIG: 7765429AB9 ~ CUP: D51G08000060001).

The works started in 2021 and its commissioning is expected to be completed by August 2024.
