intermodal links

Road links

The Port of Taranto is located outside the urban area and has direct access to major road networks.
The A14 Adriatic highway (Taranto-Bari-Bologna) provides a vital link for the Port of Taranto in terms of long-distance transport, allowing goods to be sent quickly on their way to markets in northern Italy and central Europe.
The planned upgrade of a motorway junction will further smooth the flow of road traffic generated by the port.

Rail links

In terms of rail transport, the Port of Taranto is linked to the Adriatic main line (Bari-Bologna) and to other lines serving Potenza-Naples, Brindisi-Lecce and Reggio Calabria.
The Taranto Container Terminal is linked directly with the national rail network. Every day an average of three block trains operate between the terminal and inland intermodal facilities at Nola, Bologna and Ancona.

Airports

The airports of Bari and Brindisi are located 90 km and 75 km respectively from the Port of Taranto with daily flights to and from key centres in Italy and Europe.
In addition, the airport of Grottaglie, where the aircraft manufacturing company Alenia has its plants, is about 20 km from Taranto.
